Preschool Classrooms

Grace Weekday Preschool uses developmentally appropriate units of study and activities to foster curiosity, creativity, and wonder in a natural and playful environment. Each day provides opportunities for both teacher-guided and child-initiated activities.

Each of our classrooms is designed as a learning center, offering students a unique “hands-on” learning adventure.

Book Nook

Our school library is home to over 1,000 books, a listening center, and a writing center. The library is equipped with resources to enhance children’s pre-reading, pre-writing, and listening skills. Within the Book Nook is a lending section devoted entirely to our Beginning Book Worms (a check-out system for 3-, 4-, and 5-year-olds).

Construction Zone/Community Center

The Construction Zone/Community Center is a spacious room where children may explore and create individually or in small groups, using a variety of resources. Favorites include Duplo, Lego, wooden blocks, waffle blocks, and multicultural people, homes, and accessories.

Math Station

This center contains manipulatives designed to teach math concepts such as counting, sequencing, and shape/size/number recognition.

Discovery Depot

Our science center is an exciting place for children to explore nature and the world around them. Resources within this center encourage the use of all five senses and include a sand table, water table, light box, magnets, and magnifying glasses, to name just a few!

Pretend Den

This center allows children to explore various adult roles in the family and community. Dress-up clothes are available for use in the pretend kitchen, living room, laundry room, and nursery.

Art Alley

This large room is devoted entirely to getting MESSY! Both teachers and students have fun exploring many art mediums and techniques throughout the year. Painting on easels, creating mosaics, and molding with clay are a few of the favorites.

Music & Movement

Children meet with our music teacher two or three times a week (depending on the number of days enrolled) to sing developmentally appropriate songs, use rhythmic instruments, and learn simple movements. Both Christian and seasonal songs are implemented, as well as special songs geared toward individual classroom curriculum. Additionally, all classes meet together once a week for a fun “Group Sing,” in which parents are invited to participate.

Playground

An outdoor favorite! Weather permitting, children play outside daily. Trikes are also available on the blacktop area. Gross motor activities are provided indoors in case of inclement weather.
