Inclement Weather Policy

Procedures for Canceling Worship Service/Sunday School During Inclement Weather

The Board of Directors (BoD) Member or his/her representative will initiate the actions within this policy and along with the Pastor and Worship/Music Elder or his/her representative, they will collectively make the decision for canceling worship service.

A. When it has been snowing:

A BoD Member or representative will come to the church at 7:30 AM to determine whether it is possible to clear the sidewalks and parking lots prior to the 9:00 AM service. If it is not possible to clear the sidewalks and parking lots before the early service, the BoD Member/representative will call the Worship and Music Elder or his/her representative and a Pastor. They will collectively make the decision whether to cancel the early worship service and Sunday school. If the decision is to cancel the early worship service and Sunday school, the Pastor will contact the Clerk of Session and the Office Manager who will notify church members.

The BoD and Worship Members/Elders/representatives will confer with the Pastor to determine if the 11:00 AM service must be cancelled. If the decision is to cancel the worship service, the Pastor will again contact the Clerk of Session and the Office Manager who will notify church members.

 B. If the roads are treacherous:

If the BoD Member/representative cannot get to the church to assess the situation, he/she may initiate the contacts above from his/her home and determine by 7:30 AM whether the church will be closed for the early service and Sunday school or the whole day.
